Sharing CARE

Here, we offer a space for voices to meet and mingle within the Mitigating dHARMa community. We invite you to place your own offering—a reflection, an insight, a resource.

A platform and resource like Mitigating dHARMa can serve as a catalyst for this much-needed change in our dharma communities. Survivors need a safe space where they can share with others, be believed and begin their healing, but allies—and that is all of us as Buddhists—also need to step up and talk about these issues openly and constructively.

Thank you for your dedicated work.
I survived 15 years in a German group called XXXXXX XXXXX XXXXXXX nearby Berlin. Still struggling with the results of abuse. Getting better every year since I left in 2017.

I experienced organisational abuse, bullying, gas lighting and defamation from a tibetan Buddhist organisation which has its main base in Scotland. I was involved with it for over ten years and I limped away, hardly able to function because of the trauma I experienced there. The man who bullied and belittled me, savagely and publically, was a main teacher there and fortunately he is now dead and cannot harm others. I was told I was the eighth woman he had done this to. Ironically he taught compassion and mindfulness and yet I experienced him as dangerous and narcissitic and abusive with his power
